How To Block @Mentions On Instagram

By default. anybody can @mention you on Instagram stories, Comments and posts. Even if you’re not following these people.

Sometimes though, you might feel like you don’t want to be @mentioned and Instagram lets you decide whether you want to be tagged or not; with a caveat.

Launch the Instagram app on your smartphone and tap on your profile in the bottom right corner to open your profile page.

Then tap on the menu in the upper right side and select Settings. Then tap on Privacy. In the Privacy settings window select ‘Mentions‘ then use the options to select who can mention you on Instagram.

You can choose to either allow @mentions from only the people you follow, or simply just block @mentions from anyone.

Unfortunately you cannot block mentions from a specific person; unless you don’t really care about that person and you can block them; But that’s a whole other thing!
