How To Use The GoPro Hero 9 Without The Battery

Chris Muniu February 13, 2021

The GoPro HERO 9 series are sporting bigger batteries than their predecessors. That’s good news for the vloggers and action cam communities.

But did you know you could use your GoPro without the battery inside? This would come in handy for those long road trips or even when you want to shoot a timelapse (which take really long).

You can use your GoPro without the battery to save the battery some battery life or even if you forgot to carry the batteries.

All you need to do is plug in the USB-C cable that came with your GoPro into the charging port and the other end to a power source. Then switch on your GoPro and start using it.

Since it’s just charging, you could find a longer USB-C cable (See On Amazon) soi you can charge from a source that’s not exactly near where you want to shoot from.

The only downside to this is that you’ll not be able to close the ‘battery door’ properly when using your GoPro. But it works just fine.

You can plug your GoPro to a power bank, a car charger or any power source you can think of. Just make sure you have a trusty power source that will not ruin your GoPro
