This Wallpaper TV From LG Is Thinner Than Your Smartphone

Chris Muniu May 6, 2017

Just when you thought you had seen the thinnest TV,  LG rubbished those claims at the CES 2017 with a 2.5mm thick wallpaper TV. If you haven’t appreciated how thin this TV is, just know that the new iPhone 7 is 7.1 mm thick.

LG called this series ‘Wallpaper TV’ because it actually resembles a wall paper. LG managed to make this TV this thin by taking away the ports and all other hardware from the display panel. The display panel left alone, is so thin and so light, you only need magnets to attach it to the mounting brackets.

The OLED technology which also allows HD displays to be flexible is what has allowed this TV to be this thin. OLED displays are made from sheets of organic carbon based materials which emit their own light.

MKBHD, a tech reviewer had a hands on interaction with a 65 inch 4K OLED Wallpaper TV  from LG. Here is what it looks like.
