If you are planning to take a trip, you might want to schedule an Uber ride from the destination airport in advance. If you’re going out with your friends till very late, scheduling a ride in advance can also be a good idea.
There are plenty of reasons why you might want to book an Uber in advance. Fortunately, Uber now includes the option to schedule a ride 15 minutes to 30 days in advance using the Scheduled Rides feature.
How To Schedule Uber Rides:
All you need to is enter your pickup and drop off locations, see the fare estimates and instead of requesting the uber immediately, tap the car icon with the clock located just to the right of the “Where to?” bar. Select a date and a 15-minute window of time. Tap SET PICKUP TIME and select the date and time you want to be picked up.
Uber will send you reminders on the day of the ride. If you changed your mind about the trip, you can cancel the ride before you’re 15 minutes to pick up time.
You can cancel a scheduled ride or change the date and time of your pick up in case your plans change. This is done at no extra cost.
You can see your upcoming rides in the trips section of your app menu. This feature is rolling out to all major cities that use Uber.
How The Scheduled Rides Feature works:
If you’re interested, this is how the Scheduled rides feature works. When you schedule a ride, Uber saves your trip information. When the date is reached, the Uber system automatically sends you a notification to remind you that your scheduled trip is on that day.
When you get within 15 minutes of your pick up time, the Uber system automatically requests a ride for you in the background. When a driver accepts the request, the system automatically notifies you that your Uber ride is on it’s way to pick you up.
