If your Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 or 8 Classic is powered off and you simply want to charge it without it turning on automatically, there are a few things you can do.
This is useful if the watch is completely drained, if you want to store it, or if you just prefer not to boot it up while charging.
By default, when you place your Galaxy Watch 8 or 8 Classic on the wireless charger, it powers on automatically.
Samsung designed it this way so you can see the battery percentage and use it while it’s charging. However, there are situations where you may want it to stay off.

Charge Galaxy Watch 8 Without Turning ON
To ensure this doesn’t happen, swipe down from the top of your Galaxy Watch 8 watch face. This action will open the quick toggles. Tap on the Settings icon. It is represented by a gear (cog wheel) icon.
Within the settings menu, scroll down until you find the section labeled Battery. Tap on it to open.

Under the Battery option, scroll down until you find the Auto Power On option. The toggle next to it should be blue, meaning it is enabled. When enabled, the watch automatically turns on when charging.

Toggle the switch off to disabled the Auto Power On option. The Galaxy Watch 8 should now charge when turned off, without prompting it to boot up.

Things to Remember
Wireless charging does not work on the Galaxy Watch 8.
You cannot interact with apps or menus when it’s off.
Battery Cut-off is best for long-term storage (weeks or months).
Always use a Samsung-approved charger to protect the battery.
