Tesla Cyber Truck: How To Get an Extra 15 Mile Range Per Day!

With a very unconventional design that looks like something out of a Sci-Fi film, Tesla’s new cyber truck has been generating a lot if mixed reaction since it was released.

But for the electric vehicle community and Tech enthusiasts for whom design doesn’t mean everything, the spec sheet and capabilities and possibilities presented by Tesla’s new offering. You can find out what the cuber Truck is all about in this video by MKBHD who was at the unveiling event.

Tesla Cyber Truck Solar Option

But what excited the Electric vehicle and green energy communities most is an optional feature that was announced later in a Tweet by Elon Musk.

Elon is talking about an option to have the retractable roof over the bed of the cyber truck be fitted with solar panels. These solar panels will harvest enough energy to give 15 miles to the vehicle.

This idea to have soar panels on electric cars has been looked into before by Elon and other Electric vehicle manufacturers. But the drawback has always been lack of enough space to put enough solar panels to get meaningful power for the EV.

But with the size of the Cyber truck and all that surface area in the retractable bed cover, the conversation has been re-ignited.  The Tesla CEO is convinced that cover is big enough to generate power for 15 miles everyday. This is obviously not enough but it’s a step in the right direction.

There’s something really sexy about a car running on it’s own power rather than being fed fuel or electric charge from external sources. But it’s also a big win for environmentalists and the green energy community that works very hard to reduce climate change and its effects.

Elon Musk also hinted at adding fold out solar wings that can generate up to 30 miles in range. While that’s enough range to last most people a normal day, it’s still a very raw idea. First, fold up wings means they can only charge when the car is stationery and with enough space around the car. That means you can stop the car at the side of the road and charge it via solar.

All in all, these are exciting times to be alive! By the year 2021 when the Tesla cyber truck will be a real product in the market,  the ideas to have thee car charge itself via solar will have been fine tuned. I can’t wait!
