How To Get a Refund On Steam

Steam has a lot of paid and free games you can install on your computer. Sometimes you’ll pay for a game you didn’t really intend to pay for; or maybe the game isn’t as interesting as you had thought it would be.

Fortunately Steam allows you to request for a refund for a game you bought and later decided you didn’t want to keep.

However, there are some rules that govern this refund policy. First, the game must have been purchased within the last 14 days, and the game must have been played for not more than 2 hours.

If you fall within those Steam refund rules, then you can easily request for a refund. If you fall slightly short of these rules, you can still write to support and they can look at your case individually.

How To Request a Steam Refund

Click on ‘Help’ in the Steam app menu or go to help.steampowered.com on a web browser and sign in to your Steam account.

Click on ‘A purchase’ and select the purchase you want a refund for. Select the problem you have with that purchase and then select ‘I’d like to request a refund’.

You can then select whether you want a refund on your Steam wallet to use with other purchases or to the original payment method (if possible).

You should receive a confirmation Email that your refund request has been received.
